WHO WE ARE

Our Organization

Givers League International was incorporated in USA  in September 2012. Givers League Sri Lanka was subsequently formed in Sri Lanka.  In time to come, we will be branching out to other countries as well.
Givers League International (GLI) is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization incorporated in the State of California, USA, and is classified as a Public Charity. Donations are tax deductible as it is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charity.  GLI has been reaching out impoverished communities in India, Philippines, Africa and Sri Lanka.

Givers League Sri Lanka was started to reach out to the suffering and needy exclusively in Sri Lanka.  We hope to open such charities in other countries too when the opportunities come up.
We thank you for visiting our website, and would appreciate your thoughtful gesture to be part of this unique program.

We are a team of professionals committed to making a difference in the lives of the poor and needy

She considers herself blessed to have her husband and two children fully supporting her in this endeavor.

David is a Consultant at the World Bank. He completed his PhD in Urban Planning from UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs in 2011 and has over eight years teaching and researching international development planning with particular experience in microfinance and affordable housing policy.  David’s interest in microfinance began after he received a competitive FINCA Fellowship in the summer of 2009 during which he conducted household surveys of microfinance group loan clients in Nicaragua.  He returned to Nicaragua the following year to build on this experience for his dissertation field work.  This work, under preparation for publication, sheds light on how development workers create and employ tacit and informal professional skills and practices in working with poor borrowers and how groups of borrowers cooperate to repay loans.

David has also previously presented and published work on community-based planning in Oaxaca, Mexico .  More recently, he has consulted with The Asia Foundation on a public opinion survey of development issues in Afghanistan . He has previously worked as a city planner in Irvine, California where he reviewed entitlement applications, environmental documents and led community outreach meetings for a major urban redevelopment project.   David also holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of California at Irvine and a B.S. in Anthropology and a B.A. in Communication from Santa Clara University .
